December 3rd, 2023 - 2nd Sunday of Advent - In Our Searching, God Shows Up

Scripture Passage:  Genesis 28:10-22

After gathering, connecting, enjoying refreshments and checking-in or catching up, discuss the following questions.

1.     Have you studied or thought about this story before?  What did you think it was about?

2.     What do you make of the character of Jacob?  Do you connect with him or dislike him or what?

3.     What are you searching for or what do you still wonder about or long for? 

4.     Have you had any meaningful or memorable or powerful dreams?  Are you willing to share?

5.     What do you figure the angels are doing as they go up and down the stairs? 

6.     What are some promises that God has made to you?  Do they connect with those made to Jacob?

7.     Is Bethel (house of God) a good name for a church?  What are other common names for churches that you know?

8.     Are you working out any conditions with God (if you God…. Then I ….) ?

9.     Can you share a time you wrestled with God…even if not as literally as Jacob did?

10.   When has God recently shown up for you?
