April 28, 2024 - Womb Theology
Scripture Passage: Isaiah 44:1-5
After gathering, connecting, enjoying refreshments and checking-in or catching up, discuss the following questions.
Questions
1. This message used one line from the passage of the day to travel through the Bible based on that theme. How did you like this method? What was good? Helpful? Challenging? Difficult?
2. Had it occurred to you that the Bible talks a lot about “womb”? If so, how would you have explained this?
3. Pastor Erick suggests that the creation story has some womb imagery in it. Do you see this?
4. The Spirit hovers at creation and overshadows Mary the mother of Jesus – what do you take from this shared image? How does that connect for you?
5. In Exodus 34 the word for “compassionate” and “womb” are the same. Can you put into words how those two words are related?
6. Tomb as womb – does that connection help you understand how resurrection affects us?
7. Nicodemus asks a good question about re-entering his mother… does the connection between womb and tomb help you understand what Jesus means by being born again?
8. Are there any other womb passages or ideas that come to your mind that were not part of the discussion already?
9. Are there other things from the passage or sermon that you want to discuss?
