April 21, 2024 - Who Am I? - Friendship Sunday
Scripture Passage: Isaiah 49:1-7
After gathering, connecting, enjoying refreshments and checking-in or catching up, discuss the following questions.
Questions
1. When you read a passage like Isaiah 49, do you tend to read it wondering about the original audience or do you read it as speaking to you or us now?
2. Do you resonate best with being called a child, or an arrow, or a servant? What can you learn from the image that you don’t automatically or easily connect with?
3. Isaiah speaks grace with the words “I have spent my strength for nothing at all. Yet what is due me is in the Lord’s hand.” How would you put this dynamic in your own words? How would you explain it to someone who isn’t familiar with the Bible?
4. What game have you played with an expansion pack? Did you like the expansion?
5. Who is part of your expanding circle of people as it relates to following Jesus?
6. The passage ends with the image of princes bowing. Is there any present reality where you would say that is like a prince bowing before a child of God?
7. Do you expect to see princes bowing as part of the ongoing growth of the kingdom of God around us? (or is this that only happens after Jesus returns?)
