September 22nd, 2024 - "Just Love - Love - What's in it For Me?"
Scripture Passage: 1 Corinthians 13:3
Spend time connecting, sharing food, and doing what it takes to make everyone feel safe and comfortable in the group. (Practice Hospitality)
Questions
1) What are some reasons that we give of ourselves other than love? (I thought this was a silly question at first...but then I was able to come up with 4 other reasons...)
2) Pick one example of giving of yourself (your time, your money, your energy) for a good cause for a reason other than love. This doesn't have to be a confession! Like Paul, you are just giving an example to help others. Now, what would change for YOU if love was your motivation? (Here's my example: I can visit 10 people because that's what a pastor should do and they will feel that the pastor has seen them and I will be satisfied with having visited them. But even visiting just one person and sharing with them the love God has placed in my heart and in theirs-- this connects us deeply, enriches our prayer time together, and makes me think of them often.)
3) We only briefly mentioned some of the scarier parts of love. Loving in a broken world can really hurt sometimes. Do you have example of this you want to ponder in your own heart or share?
4) Love is mysterious...hard to define and pin down. Christians talk about love and try to practice it often...but we also frequently disagree about how to love people in a Godly way. What's that been like for you?
5) What discussion question do you wish I had asked, but didn't?
End your time together praying with and for each other.
