Scripture Passage: Genesis 12: 1-5, Numbers 6:22-27, and Psalm 67

Opening

How have you understood being blessed by God?

Discussion:

1. Many times in the Bible we hear of people blessing God. In these scriptures God blesses us. Is there a difference?

2. How can we understand God’s blessings when things don’t seem to be going well?

3. God says that we will be “kept” with a ‘hedge of protection.’ Are there times that you have experienced that?

4. In this blessing God promises peace. If this peace is so much more than just the absence of war, what could the fullness of this peace look like in your life?

5. What does it mean to be given God’s name?

The language in this blessing points to God’s desire to live in relationship with God’s people and be present among them. How can you continue to draw nearer to this present God?

What are some ways you can share this blessing with others and also be a blessing to those around you?
