MOUNTAINVIEW NEWS

Join us at 10 am Sunday morning via live-stream or in-person, or at any time throughout the week. This Sunday Pastor Erick will present a message entitled “Blessed are those… Who?”. He’ll be looking at the bible passage from 1 Matthew 4:23-5:12.

This passage is the lead up and the beginning of the Sermon on the Mount. By asking a lot of questions starting with the word "Who", we can learn a lot about what Jesus was teaching. As it turns out, what he was teaching was central to the theme of the whole sermon and Jesus' whole ministry.

UPCOMING OFFERING:  May 22nd A.M. – Resonate Global Mission is continuing their partnership with churches in Canada and the US to plant churches, do campus ministry, train and equip pastors, and develop future leaders. They continue to send missionaries overseas, proclaiming the Gospel, and forging lasting partnerships. In addition to this ongoing work, they are tackling new opportunities for ministry. Here in North America, we need experience in international ministry to help churches effectively reach across cultural barriers and forge partnerships within new communities of faith. In other nations, we need expertise in church planting and campus ministry to help people in every nation discover God’s plan for their church, community, and life. With your prayers and financial support, we will be able to equip all our churches for ministry and join together with what God is already doing around the world.

Shalom’s Extend the Blessing Campaign: Church involvement has been key to the life of Shalom. Shalom’s supporters from over 6 church denominations, representing over 70 churches, of Reformed heritage in the Greater Hamilton & Niagara areas have partnered over the years through gifts of finances and time volunteering. We pray we will continue to receive that support as we expand into Hamilton. Will you prayerfully consider partnering with Shalom to help us care for more of our aging brothers and sisters? Envelopes, including materials on the project and how you can partner with Shalom to Extend the Blessing, are available at the Welcome Centre in the church foyer. Questions? Reach out to Theresa de Roos (fundraising@shalommanor.ca) 905.945.9631, X1126 or Anthony Holl (anthonyh@shalommanor.ca) X 1127.

Faith Practice Reflection Tip - Reflection and Discussion Starter—the Practice of Prayer: Read Psalm 130 and ponder or discuss the following questions. At what times in your life have you felt that you were in “the depths”? Were you able to pray during those times? Why or why not? The psalmist seems to experience despair and hope simultaneously. What role does hope play in our prayers—and in other parts of our faith formation? (For more on faith practices from Faith Formation Ministries visit bit.ly/FaithPracticesProject)
