MOUNTAINVIEW NEWS
Join us at 10 am Sunday morning via live-stream or in-person, or at any time throughout the week. Pastoral Intern Jolene Veenstra will present the next ‘mini series’ within the series “Caring Encounters” with a message entitled “Encountering Wisdom’s Children” looking at Luke chapter 7 verses 31-50
In Luke 7:31-35, we see Jesus chastises "this generation" for their disapproval of how both John the Baptist and Jesus approach hospitality. He ends this chastisement by saying, "but Wisdom is proved right by all her children." Immediately following this, Luke tells the story of Jesus being anointed by a woman with a sinful past in the house of Simon the Pharisee. What's going on in this story, and what does it have to do with Wisdom's children?
SAVE THE DATE: A Christmas Luncheon for Seniors (70+) will once again be hosted by the Deacons on December 4th! Lunch will be served after the morning worship service. If you are in this age group and a member, you should have received either a phone call or an e-invitation (evite). We look forward to spending a great time of fellowship together! Please contact your friendly Neighbourhood Deacons if you have any questions.

THANK YOU! For joining Cairn Christian School’s Annual Family Fun Fest! We are so thankful to God for His provision for this event; for the fantastic attendance, community connections and hard work that happened before, during and after the event and the fact that we raised $75,000!
Thank You from Family Outreach Ontario. Thank you for your recent donation to support Family Outreach Ontario Christian Addiction Support Services. Our volunteer-run organization is small and we are run only on donations. Your financial support is greatly appreciated! Without it, we would not be able to continue helping Reformed Christians and their families who are struggling with drug or alcohol addictions. You may not think that ALCOHOL or DRUG ADDICTION is a problem in your home. Statistics tell us that 1 out of 7 people abuse alcohol or drugs. Learn more. We can help. Go to our website www.familyoutreachontario.com or phone 905-933-3994. Confidentiality guaranteed.
Your church works had to draw believers closer to Jesus and impact your local and global neighbours. A church that evangelizes and disciples, that has strong relationships between members and with their community, has a way fo reaching out and growing, even far beyond your borders. We at the Bibile League continue to be so grateful for Canadian donor champions like you, the Christian Reformed Church and their members, who equip believers throughout the world with the Living Word of God.
Dear Friends at Mountainview Christian Reformed Church, Thank you so much for your recent gifts to Christian Horizons. We really appreciate your support. At CH, our vision is that people who experience disabilities belong to communities where their God-given gifts are valued and respected. We can’t do this alone. Thank you for joining us in this incredible work. Your donation has made a difference in the lives of poeople who choose CH services. Your gift is heartfelt expression of generousity and is deeply appreciated.
I want to share a story from a woman who has been bringing her daughter to a local Firendship Group for 11 years. “Going to Friendship is my daughters favourite night. People greet her by name and are happy to see her. My daughter doesn’t go many places without me. Her disability has made it difficult for us to feel like we fit in. But here, she has REAL friends. I know that sounds little, but to us it means the works. I’m glad she has a faith community because it means that I do too!” Isn’t that incredible? Your loving support of Friendship Ministries is making an amazing difference in the lives of people with disabilities and their families.
IF and HOW -
IF you are considering a year-end gift to Cairn Christian School or Smithville Christian High School, here’s an idea you should consider. HOW you give your gift can add to your gift’s impact, while also making a big difference on your income tax bill.
IF you have publicly-traded securities that have gained in value over the time you have owned them, using these to give to our schools can be a great idea! HOW does this work? If you bought shares for $1,000 and they are now valued at $5,000 – they are subject to Capital Gains tax if you convert them to cash first.
IF you transfer them directly to a charity, you will give a gift that cost you $1,000, but you will get a donation receipt for a $5,000 gift (for many, reducing their taxes by approx. $2,000)! And because the school doesn’t pay capital gains taxes when they convert them to cash, it gets the full $5,000 in funds to support its important work! HOW can you do this? Is it complicated? No! We can make it straightforward: contact Kevin Huinink at Cairn Christian School (khuinink@cairnchristianschool.ca), Ted Harris at Smithville Christian High School (tharris@smithvillechristian.ca), or Kevin teBrake at our Foundation (ktebrake@christianschoolfoundation.ca) to learn more.
We recommend initiating this type of gift soon to gain from the tax advantage in 2022.
