This weekend is Mother’s Day weekend, where we have the opportunity to recognize and bless our mothers.  Proverbs 31: 30 - 31 states;

“Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
Honour her for all that her hands have done,
and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.”

We hope you have a wonderful weekend honouring your mother for all that her hands have done. Happy Mother’s Day!

Member and Community Assistance

As you may recall, near the beginning of the pandemic, the deacons set up a program to assist our members with grocery store and pharmacy trips for those in quarantine or self-isolating. We are so happy to report that we are up to 19 volunteers! Thank you so much to those who have put their name forward to assist.

As our members and extended church community appear to be well served, we are looking for ways to bless our community. We welcome any ideas you might have to mobilize our group of volunteers to help others. If you have any ideas, or if you or your family require assistance, please note you can always reach out to deacons@mountainviewcrc.org or contact your neighbourhood deacon directly. We are happy to help!

McNally House

The first Sunday in May has always been a dedicated time for McNally House to host their annual event, “Hike for Hospice”. This year, due to the COVID19 pandemic, the event could not go forward as planned. However, this event will still take place, and has been postponed until October 4, 2020. McNally House states, “that participating with others from your community in these wonderful fundraising activities is a great way to have fun, build community spirit and experience the joy of generosity that comes from giving.” For more information on how to participate in this fundraising event, go to:  https://www.mcnallyhousehospice.com/events/hike-for-hospice-2/

If you are grieving or know someone who is grieving during the COVID-19 pandemic, please consider taking part in a webinar being presented by McNally House and sponsored by Armstrong Strategy Group. This webinar will take place on Thursday, May 14, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.  For more information, please go to https://griefduringcovid19.eventbrite.ca

Grimsby Benevolent Fund FEED HOPE Campaign

The GBF held a community-wide food drive collection in Grimsby this past Saturday which was an immense success! Thank you so much to those of you who were able to participate and FEED HOPE!

One of our members presented the deacons with a great idea: the next time you are in the grocery store, or putting in an online order, simply add an extra item to your cart. One extra item may not seem like a lot but consider how much of an impact that would make if more people were to donate just one item out of every grocery order. Look for the GBF donation drop off bin at your local grocery store or drop off your donation at the GBF location. Every little bit helps!

For more information about GBF and the services that they provide please visit their website at gbfgrimsby.com.
