Summer Connections - July 26th, 2021
Summer, especially summer when restrictions are lifting and outdoor connections are available, is a great time to meet people. I trust all of you are taking advantage of the opportunities you are comfortable with. We are too.
Some of the connections we are making are with family and friends from whom we have been separated. Other connections we are making are with campsites, cottages and other vacation spots. It is good to be able to get away. It is especially good to be able to get away this summer.
We are also making connections with our new neighbours, across fences and while walking the dog.
Further connections are being made with some of you. As you can probably appreciate, this will take some time. Some of you have invited us and others have promised that it will come soon. And sometimes we have had to say “sorry, we are not available then.” There is a lot of catching up to do and a lot of people to meet. That is a great gift, but a logistics challenge. Please be patient.
From a pastoral care perspective there is also a lot to catch up on. Knowing a name and some information is different that connecting with a person. So, it may take some time to be engaged and aware in a real way. Until then, I am glad that so many office-bearers and others are engaged in the care-giving practices. Thank you and keep it up.
One thing I want to emphasize is that when there are so many options it is sometimes difficult to know where to start. So, if you want to be very helpful, feel free to contact me and ask me to come if you are so inclined. I know that is not the habit for many of you and it may feel awkward, but I can assure you that it works and that I would appreciate it. Having said all that, I should also let you know that as this note is coming to you we are on vacation and will be until August 5. Feel free to send a message and I will get back to you upon my return.
Blessings to you all,
Pastor Erick
