Getting With Groupies - August 23, 2023
What’s Going On? Getting With Groupies – August 16, 2023
Kids Camp is done for the summer which must mean that September is in sight.
As you think about the next ministry season, I encourage you to make sure you have some sort of group with whom you are meeting to connect, learn and grow.
Here are some ideas of groups you could join or start:
1. The Chosen – Is anyone watching this excellent series? It depicts the life of Jesus in a theologically astute as well as artistically amazing way. How about a group discussing episodes? BEMA has commentary podcasts for each episode and I have heard there are questions available as well.
2. Alpha – Do you want to learn or re-examine the basics of following Jesus? I have done Alpha dozens of times and still find it stimulating for conversation. Think about taking this journey with others.
3. Prayer – At least once a month for the coming year there will be a sermon on a prayer in the Bible. There will be discussion questions available on our website. Also happening each month is a prayer event which you can attend and even encourage your small group to attend together.
4. RightNow Media – Coming this fall, Mountainview will be rolling out RightNow Media, which has been called the “Netflix of the church”. It is a vast curated collection of material for all ages. The rollout of RightNow Media will be emphasized in the next months. It gives each person at Mountainview permission to use video teaching at home and in groups. The launch date has been set for September 17th. Staff is getting to know the platform over the next month and will be recommending "staff picks" and resources connected to ongoing ministry at Mountainview.
5. CoffeeBreak, GriefShare, Friendship, DivorceCare are some of the groups available at Mountainview. Pick the one that connects with where you need to grow this season.
If you like one of these ideas, feel free to contact me at ericks@mountainviewcrc.org or Alice at aposthumus@mountainviewcrc.org for help getting connected to others in a group. Small groups, fellowship groups, and other ministries that take place in conversation with others are all a vital part of how Mountainview works. Make sure you give yourself this opportunity to grow.
