February 2nd, 2025 - Crash Course In Gifts

Scripture Passages:  Ephesians 4:11-13; 1 Corinthians 12:7-11; Romans 12:3-8; 1 Peter 4:8-11

Questions

1.     Discuss the idea that the four passages on gifts listed above each have a different slant or aim on the topic.

2.     From the 5 roles in Ephesians 4:11, which one do you think you lean toward. (Consider doing the APEST test online with your group and discussing the results)

3.     Someone may be uncomfortable with the idea that there are people in Apostle roles or even Prophet roles today.  Discuss.

4.     Which of the manifestational gifts of 1 Corinthians 12 have you experienced?  Are there any you don’t understand?

5.     Does it make sense to you that these gifts can be given for one occasion but not reside in a person in an ongoing way?

6.     In your own words, what is the connection between grace (charis) and gift (charismata)?

7.     Which of the gifts in Romans 12 do you see at work in your life?

8.     Can you appreciate the difference between manifestations (1 Cor 12) and gifts of grace (Rom 12)?

9.     Would you consider everything you say and do part of your mission?

10.            What might be an example of someone using their gift or role without paying attention to whether they are loving God or their neighbour?

11.            When you look at the roles and gifts you have been given, what does it suggest for what you should focus on moving forward?
