Questions

1.     Would you agree that there is an inevitability to comparing?  Can you put into words when comparing becomes wrong?

2.     Are you more prone to envy (seeing others as better) or to boasting (seeing yourself as better)?

3.     Can you state the difference between justification and sanctification?  Does this understanding help you deal with the growth areas in your life?

4.     What practices have you done that help you be in step with the Spirit?  Share how that worked (or how it was challenging.

5.     What would you consider to be the spiritual milk of Christianity?  What is the basic thing you need to keep taking in?  (this would be a good thing to have in your head when speaking to a neighbour who isn’t hanging out with Jesus yet)

6.     What do you consider to be a characteristic of a wise person?

7.     Were you surprised by James’ definition?

8.     What is the work you are willing to do to grow in your ability to love – particularly to put away envy, boasting and pride?  Try to be specific in your plan.

End your time together praying with and for each other.
