MOUNTAINVIEW NEWS
Join us at 10 am Sunday morning via live-stream or in-person, or at any time throughout the week. Pastor Erick will reflect on the fifth book of Revelation with the message “Resurrection Power”
Revelation 5 gives us a peak behind the scenes to the heavenly throne room. There we see an image that shows us the hope that is found in the resurrected Jesus of Easter and gives us a sense of how that hope plays out in history. Revelation has complex images and powerful messages meant to inspire humble worship.
CHOIR OPPORTUNITY - I have a very lovely, simple, 3-part song called "Blessed are the Poor" by Kate Williams that would fit so well on Sunday, May 15 when Pastor Erick preaches on the Beatitudes. I think we could learn it in 2 rehearsals, Sundays after worship on May 1 and May 8. Let me know if you could join this choir! Thanks, Ruth Ann
Mountainview Book Club: Five Little Indians, a novel by Michelle Good, "chronicles the bonds of friendship between a group of residential school survivors as they help each other to reinvent their lives, and, ultimately, find a way forward". The book club will be discussing this book, the recent winner of Canada Reads, at our next book club meeting on Monday, April 25, at 2:00, at the church. Are you interested in joining that meeting? Do you need a copy of the book? Please call or email Liz Meijer at lizmeijer55@gmail.com.
New Reads in the Library: This week’s highlight: Book One of a middle grade fantasy series by David A. Robertson; “The Barren Grounds”
Morgan and Eli, two Indigenous children forced away from their families and communities, are brought together in a foster home in Winnipeg. They each feel disconnected, from their culture and each other, and struggle to fit in at school and at their new home — until they find a secret place, walled off in an unfinished attic bedroom.

Hope at Easter - Corinne is a client in our supported transitional housing program in West Niagara. While she asked us to not get into the specifics of why and when she entered our program, she let me share something very special: she coloured eggs with her kids this week leading up to this weekend. At first, I didn’t quite get it. I mean, that’s great of course, but it didn’t quite sink in for me. “I just didn’t think this would ever be in the cards for us,” she replied. It turns out that this was one of those family traditions she loved as a child. One of the ones she knew she just had to pass on to her own children one day. It was one of the things she had pictured when she was expecting her first son. Recreating that fun childhood memory, this simple act of being the mom who colours eggs with her kids for Easter, was something she had always seen as part of her future. And then life happened. Not being able to share this small but special tradition with her kids ended up being yet another place where she failed. But thanks to you, this year is different. I just thought that was beautiful. It warmed my heart. So, it may sound strange, but I just needed you to know that thanks to you, Corinne got to colour eggs with her kids this Easter. Your participation in the Coldest Night of the Year made that happen. There are countless small and big moments of joy and hope and love that are possible, thanks to you. Arienne Good, Coldest Night of the Year
