MOUNTAINVIEW NEWS

Join us at 10 am Sunday morning via live-stream or in-person, or at any time throughout the week. Pastor Erick will present the next ‘mini series’ within the series “Caring Encounters” with a message entitled “Hospitality Jesus Style” looking at John 4 verses 1-26, and 39-42.

For the next three Sundays we will look at what Jesus style hospitality looks like. We start in John 4 where Jesus both asks for and offers water. There is much to wonder about in this strange exchange.

JOYFUL GIVING

This Sunday’s Collection is for our Budget and for: World Renew World Hunger Sunday

UPCOMING OFFERING: November 13th A.M. – Our Cairn Christian School sites in Smithville and Stoney Creek work to inspire students to love, learn, and lead together in God's world.  This offering provides vital support in achieving this mission, enabling students and families the opportunity to access an amazing Christian Education, and communicates our love for their students.

We collected almost 24, 000 lbs of food!! Stacey Elia let us know that about 2,000lbs are being used per day at this point. So this will serve our community for a few weeks. It also gives people more options to choose from. THANK YOU to everyone who stepped in throughout the past month to make this happen. Thank you to GBF for their fantastic efforts to provide dignity, security and care.

Seafarer Parcels:  Mission Circle has six boxes packed with 151 scarves and 192 toques which are on the way to Montreal to make parcels for the seafarers coming ashore this Christmas season.  We are grateful to all who help make this possible, including financial support, and pray that the sailors may be blessed by the gifts they receive and the message of salvation they hear.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, We at the Grimsby Life Centre would like to extend our thanks for your faithful support for our work, both through your prayers and your financial contributions. we are blessed and encouraged by your continued partnership. May God bless you. Sincerely,

The Team at Grimsby Life Centre.

World Hunger Sunday makes an impact! - Every year, congregations across North America support World Renew's efforts to end hunger. With conflict, climate, and COVID-19 effects dramatically affecting access to food for millions around the world, your generosity today is deeply appreciated. Whether you're praying, learning, giving, or advocating, you can make a difference! Learn more: worldrenew.ca/world-hunger

IF and HOW -

IF you are considering a year-end gift to Cairn Christian School or Smithville Christian High School, here’s an idea you should consider. HOW you give your gift can add to your gift’s impact, while also making a big difference on your income tax bill.

IF you have publicly-traded securities that have gained in value over the time you have owned them, using these to give to our schools can be a great idea! HOW does this work? If you bought shares for $1,000 and they are now valued at $5,000 – they are subject to Capital Gains tax if you convert them to cash first.

IF you transfer them directly to a charity, you will give a gift that cost you $1,000, but you will get a donation receipt for a $5,000 gift (for many, reducing their taxes by approx. $2,000)! And because the school doesn’t pay capital gains taxes when they convert them to cash, it gets the full $5,000 in funds to support its important work! HOW can you do this? Is it complicated? No! We can make it straightforward: contact Kevin Huinink at Cairn Christian School (khuinink@cairnchristianschool.ca), Ted Harris at Smithville Christian High School (tharris@smithvillechristian.ca), or Kevin teBrake at our Foundation (ktebrake@christianschoolfoundation.ca) to learn more.

We recommend initiating this type of gift soon to gain from the tax advantage in 2022.

Gratitude from Safe Church: Dear Mountainview CRC, Thank you so much for your financial support for Safe Church Ministry.  Because of you, we have been able to increase awareness about abuse through our webinar series, books studies, and abuse prevention resources.  Your support further provides support for regional Safe Church coordinators and safe church teams across the denomination. Finally, we have been able to provide counsel and resources to churches in order to help them respond to situations of abuse in ways that promote healing and justice.  Your donations make all this possible.  May God richly bless the ministry of your church in the year to come!
