MOUNTAINVIEW NEWS

Join us at 10 am Sunday morning via live-stream or in-person, or at any time throughout the week. Pastor Erick will continue the series “Caring Encounters” with a message entitled “Spiritual Identity” looking at the book of Romans chapter 8 verses 9-18.

The second leg of our journey down the Roman Road is to take our awareness that Jesus is at work in our lives and capitalize on it. We do this by facing fear, receiving spiritual blessings, and entering this powerful and intimate relationship as fully as possible.

JOYFUL GIVING

This Sunday’s Collection is for our Budget and for: Niagara Gleaners

UPCOMING OFFERING: October 23rd A.M. – Benevolence: Your contribution to Mountainview’s Benevolent Fund provides assistance for those in need in our church family and in our local community. These include basic needs such as food, clothing, housing and schooling. A church and community of our size has many varied needs within it. Please continue to support our ministry of Benevolence.

Thank you for your generous gift to Resonate Global Mission - When you give to Resonate, you are putting your faith into action by coming together with all of our Christian Reformed congregations to support missionaries, church planters, and campus ministries here at home and overseas. Together with you, we work to encourage them, equip them, and send them to live and share the gospel!

Your church’s gifts through Resonate go beyond supporting the specific ministries you care about. Together across the CRC, we support ministry leaders every step of the way. From logistics in traveling, to caring for their families, to guidance and mentorship, you help make God’s mission a priority in more than 40 countries around the world!

That’s the extensive impact you have when you choose to support God’s mission through Resonate: we do more together than we can alone! And in this world where more than 1.5 billion people have not heard the gospel, your giving will have an eternal impact.

In Christ, Kevin DeRaaf, Acting Canada Director

IF and HOW -

IF you are considering a year-end gift to Cairn Christian School or Smithville Christian High School, here’s an idea you should consider. HOW you give your gift can add to your gift’s impact, while also making a big difference on your income tax bill.

IF you have publicly-traded securities that have gained in value over the time you have owned them, using these to give to our schools can be a great idea! HOW does this work? If you bought shares for $1,000 and they are now valued at $5,000 – they are subject to Capital Gains tax if you convert them to cash first.

IF you transfer them directly to a charity, you will give a gift that cost you $1,000, but you will get a donation receipt for a $5,000 gift (for many, reducing their taxes by approx. $2,000)! And because the school doesn’t pay capital gains taxes when they convert them to cash, it gets the full $5,000 in funds to support its important work! HOW can you do this? Is it complicated? No! We can make it straightforward: contact Kevin Huinink at Cairn Christian School (khuinink@cairnchristianschool.ca), Ted Harris at Smithville Christian High School (tharris@smithvillechristian.ca), or Kevin teBrake at our Foundation (ktebrake@christianschoolfoundation.ca) to learn more.

We recommend initiating this type of gift soon to gain from the tax advantage in 2022.
