MOUNTAINVIEW NEWS
Join us at 10 am Sunday morning via live-stream or in-person, or at any time throughout the week. Intern Pastor Jolene Veenstra will present the first message of a 2-part mini-series entitled “Two Great Losses: Lessons From the Hospital”; Part One: Loss of Home (1 Cor 2:9 & John 14:2-3)
After three months of working at the hospital as a spiritual care learner, I am struck by two common and painful losses that people requiring intensive medical care endure: the loss of home and the loss of independence. These losses cut deep, and a significant part of our life experience is involved in preventing, anticipating, and navigating them. How can we bring our hopes and fears around the loss of home and independence to Christ? What might scripture show us about the impact of the heavenly kingdom on our experience of these losses?

Gail Gorfe, who many of you met when she came to visit our community in February, will be back in Southern Ontario for the summer. Her son Zack has a job lined up in Brantford and will then transition to Mohawk, while her daughter Zoya will hopefully also find a summer job. Gail will be doing support raising and visiting churches and families and they are in need of a car. Both kids also need to practice their driving so Gail is looking to purchase one. If you have a car you are planning to sell, and will consider a low price to support the Gorfe's as they settle in an area, please contact the Deacons, or Karin in the office, or email Gail directly at ggorfe@crcnapartners.org. They will also be needing household items for Zack to take with him to his dorm at Mohawk, the basics, which students generally bring from home. If you can help with that you can also talk to the Deacons. This list of needed supplies is linked here. Please check out Gail’s News update on our Website for more recent details about their family and her ministry.

UPCOMING OFFERING: July 31st A.M. – World Renew – Sovann Neth is the World Renew Country Consultant in Cambodia! Sovann has been faithfully serving with World Renew (CRWRC) in Cambodia since June 25, 2008. Sovann has held the positions of Program Coordinator, Program Manager, Operations and Program Manager and Deputy Country Director during his time with World Renew.
Cambodia: The people of Cambodia have been left with a daunting legacy. Under the Pol Pot regime one-third of its people died, followed by 15 years of civil war. Since 1993, the country has worked hard to rebuild and retrain communities and restore confidence and trust in leadership. World Renew is assisting in the development process, through training in governance, sustainable livelihood, food security, health and education. We support the local people to make their own decisions and take initiatives that are most important to them.
Hello from Youth Unlimited YFC Niagara! We are so excited to begin updating you on the work that God is doing in the Niagara Region through our Youth Unlimited satellites. At Youth Unlimited YFC we are committed to helping youth develop holistically by offering programs and developing relationships that nurture the whole person – physically, mentally, emotionally, socially and spiritually. We are dedicated to seeing young people have the opportunity to make an informed decision to become a follower of Jesus Christ and become a part of a local church. A bit about our programs at three satellites with a total of eight staff and many volunteers.
1. In Niagara Falls, our focus is working alongside youth and young adults in a one on one mentoring capacity. We are looking forward to expanding our Young Adults ministry this year and help our younger generation grow deeper in Jesus.
2. In St. Catharines we offer a wide range of programs that include weekly Homework Helps, weekly Games Night, GO (Girls Only) drop-in, Friday night drop-in, a Young Moms & Prenatal program as well as after school programming at the DSBN Academy. We are so excited that we are getting new referrals and inquiries for our weekly programs, especially for Young Moms. The word is getting out there that Youth Unlimited is here to support young moms and youth.
3. In Lincoln we offer a weekly drop in program and are in the process of revamping our ministries to better serve the youth of Lincoln, as well as creating partnerships with other local organizations to help serve each other and the community in a more holistic way.
How you can pray for us:
· For more volunteers and staff for our programs
· For some of our youth that are constantly struggling with anxiety
· That new programs would bring new youth, and that our current programs continue to grow as well
· That our young moms not only learn about motherhood, but also about the love of Jesus
· For our new summer students, not all of them are Christians and we would love to share Jesus with them
· For our fundraising events this summer, that we would become known across the region and that funds would be raised to help operate our centers
