MOUNTAINVIEW NEWS
Join us Sunday morning at 10 am or any time throughout the week. Pastor Erick Schuringa will present a message entitled “The Summoned by Name”. The’ll be taking at look at the book of Isaiah, chapter 43 verses 1-7.
As we continue to celebrate the growing family of Mountainview, we will focus on how God calls us by name. Isaiah 43:1-7 creatively connects our call with the whole biblical story. BEMA fans will want to pay special attention to the structure of the passage.
LET’S BUILD SOME COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS!
THANK YOU! to all of the volunteers who have participated for years in landscaping and grounds maintenance and to the new volunteers that have signed up. The need for help fluctuates greatly over the course of the season. So, if you are interested in helping on occasion, please let Paul Koornneef know.
Now, you are probably wondering what is going on with the gardens and the islands. Well, we will be doing a refresh in 3 phases. Here is an update:
Phase 1: Many plants and bushes will be removed as they are either over grown or in very poor shape. The garden in front of the church and around the front sign will be the first to be cleaned out and replanted with perennials and some easy to care for bushes. This will happen on June 10. We will also be adding a sprinkler system in this garden this year.
Phase 2: We will be cleaning out the large island between the church and the main parking lot by digging it out and adding new soil. They will then be planted with perennials and some hardy smaller trees. A sprinkler system will be added when possible. (We may have to wait until we repave)
Phase 3: We will be cleaning out the islands of all plant material in poor condition. For the short term these islands will mulched only. Replanting will happen after the parking is repaved (in about 5 years) and sprinklers can be added to each island.
The large planters in the island between the church and the main parking lot will be taken out. If anyone is interested in them please contact Paul (text or call 905-645-4582) before June 10.
JOYFUL GIVING
**PLEASE NOTE THE EDIT BELOW TO THE MONTLY OFFERING SCHEDULE FOR JUNE 25th DUE TO THE NEW CHURCH YEAR END**
June 25th A.M. – MINISTRY PROMISE – BUDGET: "GRATITUDE” is a biblical virtue. God calls us to be thankful. One of the ways that we can show our gratitude is by GIVING – whether that be volunteering one’s time, sharing one’s talents, monetary gifts, etc. Mountainview CRC has a wonderful history of giving in so many ways to our church, to the community of Grimsby, and to other Christian organizations in the broader community. Our annual budget -- the monetary gifts portion of the GIVING -- still has approximately 25% to be collected by June 30 in order to fulfill all of our ministry promises for this year. Your financial support is crucial in helping Mountainview CRC continue to serve and thrive."
UPCOMING OFFERING: June 11th A.M. – Benevolence: Your contribution to Mountainview’s Benevolent Fund provides assistance for those in need in our church family and in our local community. These include basic needs such as food, clothing, housing and schooling. A church and community of our size has many varied needs within it. Please continue to support our ministry of Benevolence.
We are so very grateful for your faithful contributions to our work of providing counseling and hope for those in need. Thank you so much for continuing to partner with us in providing this service with us in providing this service to our community. May God Bless you. Sincerely,
The Team at Grimsby Life Centre.
Dear Friends, This is to let you know we received your most recent gift in May. As always, Redeemer is grateful and encouraged by it. It is rather incredible to write that the academic year has officially concluded! Our graduation ceremony took place this past weekend on Saturday, May 27th. These last months have gone quickly and Redeemer remains mindful and grateful for your support throughout this entire year. I also wanted to highlight, with gratitude, some giving data that directly relates to our church support: Redeemer is humbled by the contributions of its faithful support community. $12.9 million was received from over 1,150 donors. 45% went to operating the university, while 55% supported capital projects and student awards. $900,000 came from churches in the support community. More info on Year in Review can be found here: https://www.redeemer.ca/year-in-review-2022-2023/. Redeemer acknowledges your support with much gratitude. Thank you again. God Bless! Heidi

Dear Friends at Mountainview CRC: There’s no place like home. Every day, we see the positive impact of a permanent supportive home – a safe and welcoming place that people can truly afford on a limited fixed income. For people who have been on the street, institutionalized, couch-surfing and moving in and out of shelters, this is such a gift! Through your donation to Indwell, you are a part of providing more than 1,100 people with an affordable and safe home. As Lori says, “Since being at Indwell, I know what home is. I have a new way of life – one I can be proud of. I have friends and lots of good people [around me] making good choices.” Thank you for being a part of our community of care. The Indwell team
Bridge App Givings: We are deeply grateful that many members are using The Bridge App to donate to our church’s budget and ministry causes. Please be aware that there is a three percent fee for all donations given by credit card, while there is no fee if you give directly from your bank account. If you haven’t already done so, you can add your bank account by clicking on ‘Give’ and then ‘Payment Methods,’ choose ‘Add Payment Method’ and then ‘Add a Bank Account’. You will need to change the payment method on any existing recurring donations. Together, we can save our church hundreds of dollars in fees, and direct those funds toward our budget and ministries.
