MOUNTAINVIEW NEWS

Join us Sunday morning at 10 am or any time throughout the week. This Sunday our Elders and Deacons are being Installed and Pastor Erick Schuringa will present a message entitled “A Noble Task”. He will be looking at the book of First Timothy, chapter 13, verses 1-13.

As we install new office-bearers on Sunday we will prepare by looking at Paul's instruction on this matter to his young understudy Timothy.  Read 1 Timothy 3:1-13 in preparation.  It may raise some questions.  Read the whole letter and it definitely will.

LET’S BUILD SOME COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS!

JOYFUL GIVING

Sunday's offerings are for our Ministry Promise (a.k.a. Budget) AND for...

UPCOMING OFFERING: May 14th A.M. – Cairn Christian School: Our Cairn Christian School sites in Smithville and Stoney Creek work to inspire students to love, learn, and lead together in God's world.  This offering provides vital support in achieving this mission, enabling students and families the opportunity to access an amazing Christian Education, and communicates our love for their students.

Serve in Mississippi with World Renew - After the damage caused by tornadoes that stayed on the ground for approximately 100 miles across Mississippi, join World Renew this October for one week with your church to serve homeowners by repairing homes. Will you answer the call to rebuild hope in Rolling Fork, Mississippi? If interested, email cgibson@worldrenew.net to sign up or with questions.

Help End the Injustices that Prevent Women from Flourishing - In two weeks, churches across Canada will celebrate the amazing women in our lives who help our families and communities flourish. Around the world, women and girls are often denied basic rights. Many are not allowed to attend school or pursue employment. Others are subjected to early childhood marriage or to mental or physical abuse. World Renew asks you to join us in supporting vulnerable women by donating gifts to Women of Hope: worldrenew.ca/womenofhope

Wow! What an amazing turnout at our 2nd annual bowling for breakfasts fundraiser Saturday, April 22 at Cataract Bowl!! 23 lanes of happy bowlers, both young and old. Together we raised $43,000.00 to feed a nutritious breakfast 7 days a week to those here in Niagara Falls who are struggling with homelessness. An enormous thank you to all who participated, all of you who worked hard at raising money, plus to everyone who worked behind the scenes to make this event over the top successful!!

Thanks to Third Space Cafe for all they do every day in serving the many people at their door every morning!! God has blessed this ministry immensely and this is an indicator that God is doing amazing things here in Niagara Falls. Thanks again and continue to pray for good change here in Niagara Falls!!

We recently were able to host a volunteer appreciation to recognize the important role that volunteers contribute to Shalom daily.  Shalom volunteers play a vital role in helping with feeding at mealtimes, portering for church and other events, assisting with games, running the café and general store, seamstress work, music ministry, board members, one-on-one visits and so much more.  We celebrate and give thanks for our volunteers, not just once a year but every day for the joy and assistance they bring to Shalom.  Please join us in saying THANK YOU VOLUNTEERS!  If you would like to be a part of the Shalom community as a volunteer, please contact Brooke Roorda at volunteercoord@shalommanor.ca or at 905-945-9631, ext. 1115.
