Beginning Again - Leadership Updates - January 2025

Hey Mountainview,

As your Church Council and Board, we want to further improve upon our communication to each of you in 2025 and going forward.

 We will be updating our website at: https://www.mountainviewcrc.org/leadership-updates during the course of the year. Reminders will appear in the weekly e-blast (Announcements) when there is an update, but please check our website to see what your Elders and Deacons are celebrating and who they are ministering to in the life of our church family.

January Board Updates:

Upon review of our December finances we were blessed by the financial gifts of this community and continue to discuss stewardship communication to greater stabilize the monthly giving such that we meet our financial obligations to our budget more routinely. Bridge app is awesome!

We received a debrief from Pastor Jolene on her role and ministry as a hospital Chaplain in Hamilton Health Sciences, we celebrated the joys of the role and also the areas where we can continue to support her more effectively.

We discussed the nomination process for office bearers both Elders and Deacons who will have names affirmed at this February Elders meeting and we will be communicating these names in the coming weeks. We further discussed succession planning for our board members; emphasizing God's sovereignty over the entire process.

January Elders Updates:

Pastor Jolene walked through the updates to the assistive hearing options are now available. Congregants can use their own hearing aids with the WaveCast app for their phone, the loop system or they can use one of the transmitters available at the Welcome Desk.

Elders discussed the enfolding of our children to the communion table, how to equip parents and prepare their children's hearts for the sacrament as they feel their family is ready. Pastors and staff to be involved in education and organization of this plan as the year unfolds.

We also touched on the nomination process, discussing those elders and deacons who continue to feel God's calling to have their names reaffirmed for an additional year. If you feel called to serve as an elder or Deacon or have any suggestions for our leadership please email me!

January Deacons Updates:

At our most recent meeting, the Deacons spent some time sharing and rejoicing about our Seniors’ Luncheon. We shared stories and memories from the event about how we were all positively impacted by the blessing the event has become to not only the seniors, but also the Deacons and family members that helped. Afterwards, we discussed how the plant deliveries to those who could not attend the luncheon went, and again we were all blessed to hear the stories and testimonies from the deacons on all the visits that they had made, whether they were 5 minutes, or 45 minutes.
