June 5th, 2020

Welcome to a new week and a new Deacons’ Corner!  As the school year closes and the summer break begins, the Deacons’ Corner will be published the first Sunday of the month for the summer months.  Know that regardless of the change in frequency of our newsletter, we are still here to assist you throughout the summer in any way needed.  Look for our next Deacons’ Corner July 5, 2020.

This has not been a quiet week! We’ve seen many protesters across the United States of America and even closer to home, speaking out over the death of George Floyd and the inequality and racism faced by black people.  We are reminded that even though God created us all equal, not all of God’s children are being treated as equals. This is disheartening.

We hope that this coming week will bring more peace, the start of radical and positive change, and we pray that we will see evidence of love as God taught us to love our neighbour as ourselves.

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered,
it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.”
1 Corinthians 13: 4 - 8a
