What's Going On? Pastor Brady - March 12, 2025
Hey! Brady here. We are approaching a time in my ministry season with lots of major events. Here’s “What’s Going On” with me.
Youth Fundraising Dinner
Youth Fundraising Dinner
The first thing I want to bring to your attention is the upcoming Youth Fundraising Dinner happening on Saturday, March 22nd at Mountainview. Cocktails & Photo booth at 5:30 pm Dinner will begin at 6 pm.
This event has been in our church announcements for the past few weeks. You can click on the picture provided in that email, or you can click the link here to register.
AOYC & SERVE
(How many of our youth can you spot from this photo of us worshipping at AOYC last year?)
The reason we host this fundraising event is to help cover the costs of our two major youth events: the All Ontario Youth Convention (AOYC) and SERVE.
This year AOYC is happening at Wilfrid Laurier University from May 17-19. This is the first year since 2019 that it is going to be a three-day event happening at WLU which was their long-standing practice before COVID. We are ecstatic to see this event continue to grow to a place where our youth can experience a weekend of profound spiritual formation.
For SERVE, we are going to be doing something unique! This year we are going to be part of the host team for SERVE Niagara happening July 12-19. I am working on putting together a team of our youth to help run the social media, games, and other community-life activities for the participants throughout the week.
There are 2 goals associated with this decision. First, it will give our youth the opportunity to get involved in something local that they can potentially have future experiences with. Second, with the money that we save from SERVE-ing locally, we will be able to travel to a farther SERVE site the following year, Lord willing.
Disciples Making Disciples
Disciples Making Disciples invites you to Stand Up!
An evening event on Monday, March 31st at 7:30 pm at the Brock Campus. Join us as we encourage one another in faith and in mission. Beth Fellinger will lead us in thinking creatively about mission and moving forward in the liminal space we find ourselves in, using Luke 13:11-17 as a starting point. The Collective
Since the fall, our Young Adults ministry has pivoted to something broader than just our church. This ministry is primarily run by myself, Dave Scholman (Youth Pastor at Covenant CRC in St. Catharines), and Elly Sarkany (Worship Director also at Covenant). We have a WhatsApp group chat where we regularly keep in touch and pass along the details of our gatherings. If you or someone you know would like to get involved in The Collective in any way, please reach out to me!
School Timeline
I am nearing the end of my third year in my Master’s of Divinity degree at Calvin Theological Seminary. This work never fails to keep me busy reading, studying and writing papers in my office.
I am currently on track to graduate in the spring of 2026 which, Lord willing, will lead to ordination later that summer and me being available for call to a church as Minister of the Word.
Please continue to pray for me and my family as I balance being a pastor, a student, a husband, a father, and a child of God.
In Christ,
Pastor Brady
