What’s Going On? Sending Love – February 1st, 2024

Hi Church,

On Cadet Sunday, Pastor Erick preached on being deeply rooted in love and I have seen and experienced how this congregation is rooted in God's love!  Prayer is one of the ways we stretch our roots deep into the love of Jesus.  In addition to hearing the prayers of the congregation on Sundays and seeing the prayer notices on the Bridge App and in the bulletin online, I am always hearing of folks in this congregation praying for one another.  Another way to stretch our roots deep into love is to tell a sibling in Christ that we are praying for them and to tell them we care.

With that in mind let's send some love with a card!  For the month of February, we will have cards available on the tables in the Fellowship Hall after church (though on Feb 25th we may need to move them to the Welcome Centre or somewhere similar... keep your eyes open!).

There will be suggestions (without names) of folks who could most use a card:

  • someone who is grieving,

  • someone who suffers from poor health,

  • someone who is isolated at home.

But you may also write a card to anyone in the congregation who is on your heart this February.  If you leave your card in the basket, I will address, stamp, and mail it for you.  If you have a specific recipient in mind, please write their name clearly on the card and envelope (first and last name).  Otherwise, I will give your prayers and message to an appropriate person and we will trust the Holy Spirit to connect our hearts.

"But Pastor Jolene," I hear someone saying, "I thought these bins on the tables were for colouring for the children?"  Yes, good point!  They were.  I am trying something new for a while.  Don't worry, the Kids@Mountainview are still making beautiful art to be sent to congregants who can't join us physically on Sundays.  Just last week Pastor Kristy handed me a lovely work of art for just that purpose!  Our kids are becoming well-practiced in the discipline of sending love... let's join them!
