Message Notes:
Introduction: Synod is receiving a report entitled:
“A Foundation-Laying Biblical Theology on Human Sexality”
1. “Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.” I Corinthians 6:18.
- Obedience or Disobedience - Gratitude or Ingratitude
- Service or Rebellion - Covenant Faithfulness or Unfaithfulness
2. Sexual immorality often sins against another person.
- Sexual abuse needs to be condemned.
- Sexual abuse is so vile because God is so good.
- Justice is ensuring an outward standard of rightness is followed.
3. Paul explains why sexual immorality is so wrong.
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit,
who is in you, whom you have received from God?
You are not your own; you were bought at a price.” 1 Cor.6:19,20.
YOUR BODY IS UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP!
YOUR BODY IS UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT!
4. “Therefore honor God with your bodies.” I Corinthians 6:20.
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy,
to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God
- this is your true and proper worship.
Do not conform to the patterns of this world,
but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-
His good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:1,2.
