Questions
1. Which do you find more difficult, to stay calm or to forgive?
2. 1 Corinthians 13:5 begins with “it does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking”. Pastor Erick calls these terms comparative. Do you think that living comparatively is a big problem in the church? How about for you?
3. Do you have any experience “turning the other cheek”? Can you share a time when you were hurt or demanded from and you decided to give more than was required?
4. Do you think Jesus is exaggerating to make a point or is he seriously expecting us to do this? Or is there another way of understanding it?
5. Do you agree that “forgive and you will be forgiven” is wisdom and not law? (that God can forgive us even if we are unforgiving, but that it is a better way to go if we lean into forgiving others)
6. Can you articulate what your identity in Christ is?
7. How do you like the soft clothes of Colossians 3:12? Are they easy to wear and comfortable for you?
8. What has it meant to you to “bear one another’s burdens”? When have you done this or had it done for you?
9. Do you have a habit of paying attention to your emotional responses? Would you be willing to try journalling about this until the next group meeting?
10. If you were to picture Jesus looking at you right now, what would his facial expression be? What might he say?
End your time together praying with and for each other
