Scripture Passages: 1 Kings 19:1-18

Opening

Check in with each other about how you have seen God at work in your life since you last met.

Discussion:

1. What parts of the Elijah story (both 1 Kings 18 & 19) stick out in your mind?

2. What are things in the story that were new to you?

3. Do you tend to look more for prophetic power (ch 18) or quiet power (ch 19) when you are looking for God at work?

4. Give an example of big power that you have experienced. Do the same for quiet power.

5. Do you agree with the statement "though God can and does display his awesome power, much of our growth happens through slow, steady obedience to the quiet promptings of the Holy Spirit."?
