MOUNTAINVIEW NEWS

Join us Sunday morning at 10 am or anytime throughout the week. This Sunday Pastor Jolene will focus on Disability Concerns with a message entitled “The Most Excellent Way”. She will be taking a look at the book of 1 Corinthians chapter 12 verses 12-26.

Paul invites the Corinthians to look past the way that the world defines their community, towards a better way. How does a man who has been blinded by God and given new sight show them and us the kingdom in a new way?

This weekend we mark Disability Awareness Sunday. In the video linked below, Vinnie Adams takes viewers on a quick tour of The 5 Stages of Disability Attitudes and reminds us that our attitudes aren't about just disability. They are about how we see the image of God in others. We invite you to watch this short video and reflect as you prepare your heart for worship this Sunday.

Through our partnership with Canadian Foodgrains Bank, World Renew is joining the Humanitarian Coalition’s Gaza Emergency Response, responding to those left vulnerable by the Israel-Palestine crisis. Through November 12, all donations given towards this response will be matched dollar for dollar up to a total of $10 million. Click HERE to Give.

We are mindful that there are tremendous needs in Israel and Palestine. As a humanitarian organization we work where we are invited, where the needs are greatest, and where local authorities may not be able to be relied upon for relief or capable of an adequate response without external involvement.

As our trusted partners assess conditions and identify civilians in greatest need, World Renew will support them in sharing Christ’s hope through the provision of emergency medical and health services and supplies, and other emergency aid as we are able to. Read World Renew’s full statement here.

Join our regional organizers for a special Canadian conversation on our recent storytelling film series, This is Hunting Park. The impacts of environmental injustice are often felt in North American communities that can least afford to cope with the increased heat and hazardous health conditions. One such neighborhood is Hunting Park in Philadelphia. Yet in this community, the hopeful work of faith-based advocacy and community resilience is translating into real change!

On Monday, November 27th, you will have two virtual opportunities to discuss how the stories from Hunting Park can inspire you to step up in your own community for faithful climate action. The first discussion will happen at 7pm EST (hosted by ON organizer David Flikkema) and the second at 7pm PST (hosted by AB organizer Joanne Vandergrift). We encourage you to register today to receive the film screening link and meeting information.
