It's Giving Tuesday! - This coming Tuesday, November 28, is now known at #GivingTuesday - a day to give just a little bit back to make our world a better place! The NewGround program (formerly called Operation Manna) of Diaconal Ministries Canada equips and supports churches who want to make a difference in their local communities. This year we saw a sharp increase in grant requests: from $35,000 last year to $90,000 this year! Diaconal Ministries would love to help these churches be on mission in their own backyards: will you help us help them? Donate today - every single dollar will make a difference to a community in Canada that needs to see and experience the love of Jesus! Visit https://diaconalministries.com/donate-now today.

Through our partnership with Canadian Foodgrains Bank, World Renew is joining the Humanitarian Coalition’s Gaza Emergency Response, responding to those left vulnerable by the Israel-Palestine crisis. Click HERE to Give.

We are mindful that there are tremendous needs in Israel and Palestine. As a humanitarian organization we work where we are invited, where the needs are greatest, and where local authorities may not be able to be relied upon for relief or capable of an adequate response without external involvement.

As our trusted partners assess conditions and identify civilians in greatest need, World Renew will support them in sharing Christ’s hope through the provision of emergency medical and health services and supplies, and other emergency aid as we are able to. Read World Renew’s full statement here.

Are you looking for an Advent Bible Study to do with friends or your church community? Are you struggling with how to respond to the overwhelming sorrow and loss present in the world today? The writers of the Psalms were also struggling with deep loss: violence, poverty, war. And, in the midst of such losses, they called God to account, demanded justice, and professed hope that the Creator God would set things right. This fall Dr. Sylvia Keesmaat will be teaching an online four week course: "Inhabiting the Psalms: Ancient Songs for a Time of Crisis" that weaves these ancient texts with more recent musical and poetic reworkings of the Psalms. Sunday evenings Nov 26-Dec 17. Go to www.bibleremixed.ca for more info.

Join our regional organizers for a special Canadian conversation on our recent storytelling film series, This is Hunting Park. The impacts of environmental injustice are often felt in North American communities that can least afford to cope with the increased heat and hazardous health conditions. One such neighborhood is Hunting Park in Philadelphia. Yet in this community, the hopeful work of faith-based advocacy and community resilience is translating into real change!

On Monday, November 27th, you will have two virtual opportunities to discuss how the stories from Hunting Park can inspire you to step up in your own community for faithful climate action. The first discussion will happen at 7pm EST (hosted by ON organizer David Flikkema) and the second at 7pm PST (hosted by AB organizer Joanne Vandergrift). We encourage you to register today to receive the film screening link and meeting information.

Important Note: Please plan to watch the film in advance of the discussion - when you register you will receive the link to screen the film, as well as the zoom link to join on Nov 27th .
