Offering Schedule for February 2023
February 5th A.M. – Congregational Ministries: Race Relations: As a denomination, we are committed to meeting the needs of people doing local ministry; listening better and hearing more from our churches; and following the leading of God in the work we do together. The congregational services ministries seek to partner with your church and help you partner with your community and other churches as you respond to God's call to go out and love. Each of our ministries addresses an important part of the ministry areas the CRC has identified as our collective calling: Faith Formation, Gospel Proclamation and Worship, Mercy and Justice, and Servant Leadership.
Race Relations is mandated by Synod “to design, organize, and implement programs that will assist the denomination, churches, and members in eliminating the causes and effects of racism within the body of believers and throughout the world”. Because there is a need for leaders and their congregations to have more effective ministry in the diverse communities they serve, there is also a need to have assistance in becoming culturally intelligent. The Office of Race Relations offers the resources and tools to develop this capacity.
February 12th A.M. – Benevolence: Your contribution to Mountainview’s Benevolent Fund provides assistance for those in need in our church family and in our local community. These include basic needs such as food, clothing, housing and schooling. A church and community of our size has many varied needs within it. Please continue to support our ministry of Benevolence.
February 19th A.M. – Global Aid Network (GAiN) – Tyler Couperus: Together we are revealing hope by sharing God’s unconditional love and restoring life by demonstrating the gospel through compassionate action to those who are living in poverty, injustice and crisis around the world.
“That is where I come in. I will be working with GAiN full-time. In order to successfully fulfill our mission as GAiN, we need staff who can lay the groundwork, and do project management to empower staff in the field as well as our local partners My role will be managing our disaster relief programs and our preparedness. I will be doing a lot of collaboration with our partners worldwide, particularly those in our Disaster Relief offices. My new position includes training new volunteers at our DART team training, as well as potential field visits, and ongoing conversation with our project partners about how we can work better together. Thank you for partnering with me in your time, prayers and encouragement, as well as finances so that I can fulfill my kingdom calling. I have been blessed by the church throughout my life; in each church we have celebrated together, mourned together and supported each other. I look forward to growing that community.” Tyler C.
