Offering Details for December 2023

PLEASE NOTE: December 17 – The Bridge (Niagara Falls) is a change from the Annual Offering Schedule on our website.

Also, there was no collection scheduled for December 31st.  The Deacons would like us to support “The Village Church (Thorold)” with our last collection of 2023 to help them correct their deficit and enable them to continue with a very fruitful ministry!

December 3rd A.M. – Benevolence:  Your contribution to Mountainview’s Benevolent Fund provides assistance for those in need in our church family and in our local community. These include basic needs such as food, clothing, housing and schooling. A church and community of our size has many varied needs within it. Please continue to support our ministry of Benevolence.

December 10th A.M. – Grimsby Benevolent Fund: Your contribution will help provide people who are at a disadvantage to obtain food, clothing, and emergency assistance. GBF Community Services assists individuals and households in meeting their basic needs. Through our programs, we have been helping the Grimsby community in achieving self-sufficiency for more than 56 years. This care is provided by donors and volunteers.  Please give generously to help those who are in need in your community.

December 17th A.M. – The Bridge (Niagara Falls) – Pastor Steve DeBoer:  An inner-city mission in a neglected area of Niagara Falls, the Bridge exists for the "placeless" of the city - the invisible, unseen ones of our society. In partnership with Third Space Cafe, The Bridge serves a nutritious breakfast every day to 50 - 75 people living on the streets, in tents, abandoned buildings, and under-serviced motels. More than a breakfast-service provider, The Bridge seeks to be a community of support and connection, working collaboratively with the City, Region, faith communities, businesses, not-for-profits, and people of peace who have a heart for homelessness, and compassion for the issues connected to it. To learn more about our mission, watch this video: https://youtu.be/WHfBqjFzxE4. Opportunities for monthly giving and volunteering are more than appreciated; to learn more contact our Mission Pastor at steve@thebridgenf.ca.

December 24 A.M. – Grimsby Life Centre is a ministry that is committed to providing help for the physical, social, and mental well-being of those in crisis. This loving care is demonstrated through on-going counseling, support and care. All services are free and confidential, and we depend solely on donations from individuals, churches, businesses, and fund-raising events. Thank-you for your support and prayers.

December 25th A.M. – World Renew (Giving Tree/Gift Catalogue):  Your Mountainview Deacons invite and encourage you to join in the 2023-2024 Giving Tree Project from World Renew! (Tree with ornaments and gift catalogues will be in the foyer on November 26). At Christmas we celebrate God’s indescribable gift and remember it by reflecting his generous love to others. The goat or rooster, kitchen garden kit, handwashing station, or bicycle that you add to your Christmas list this year for someone you may never know, may be just what they need. God knows them and will provide what they need to take the next step into the wholeness and wellbeing that God intends for them.  Thank you for helping people in need through the World Renew Gift Catalogue and Giving Tree Project. TO GIVE:

  1. Choose an ornament from the Giving Tree or review the Gift Catalogue online at
    worldrenew.ca/gifts

  2. Complete the order form at the back of the gift catalogue OR give online at worldrenew.ca/gifts

  3. Place cheque/cash and card/form in offering vase OR give online at worldrenew.ca/gifts

December 31st A.M. – The Village Church (Thorold): Thank you for partnering with The Village Church in another amazing year of ministry! Highlights of 2023: The launch of two new Dinner Churches at Covenant CRC and the Third Space Café; the launch of Summer for the city (Christian entrepreneurship and mentoring); the ability to provide a meal and the gospel message to 200 guests at our Village Socials and to see 2 baptisms!  There is much to celebrate and to anticipate with 12 new Dinner Church launches planned in our Classis over the next six years. Please remember us in your year end giving. We are currently running a 36,000 deficit and are working on plans for a more sustainable 2024 while still working to share the life-changing message of Jesus Christ with our neighbours in new ways. Blessings to you in 2024!
