Offering Schedule for May 2019
May 5th A.M. – Friendship (Local): Our Local Friendship Group consists of about 15 young people and adults from our church and surrounding community with developmental challenges. Special friends from our church meet with these young people and adults every Thursday night from September to May. We enjoy an evening filled with the good news of God’s love through Bible stories, singing, crafts, and special activities.
P.M. – Benevolence: Your contribution to Mountainview’s Benevolence Fund provides assistance for the needs of our church family and the local community. These include basic needs such as food, clothing, housing and schooling. A church and community of our size has many varied needs within it. Please continue to support our ministry of benevolence.
May 12th A.M. – Mothers’ Day – NewGround (formerly Operation Manna) – Diaconal Ministries Canada (DMC): NewGround has been impacting communities for more than 35 years. God is always at work and calls churches to follow Him into their communities to share Christ’s transformational love with each and every person. Cities and neighbourhoods should be impacted and blessed through the social action and thoughtful cultural engagement of local Christians. The NewGround program of Diaconal Ministries Canada partners with deacons and churches to break new missional ground, nurturing Spirit-led ideas into healthy ministries that bear everlasting fruit; assisting churches in areas like leadership development, fundraising, strategic planning and more. When you give, it’s about the people in your community who will be reached through your gift.
P.M. – No Service – Mothers Day
May 19th A.M. – Calvin Theological Seminary provides theological training for ordained and un-ordained ministry positions for Christian Reformed Churches in North America as well as leaders for Christ’s church around the world. They also evaluate candidates for ministry, offer continuing education for pastors, and seminars for office bearers. Calvin Theological Seminary advises synod and is a theological resource for all denominational agencies and churches.
P.M. – No Service; Victoria Day Weekend
May 26th A.M. – Resonate Global Mission is continuing their partnership with churches in the United States and Canada to plant churches, do campus ministry, train and equip pastors, and develop future leaders. They will also continue to send missionaries overseas, proclaiming the Gospel, and forging lasting partnerships. In addition to this ongoing work, they are tackling new opportunities for ministry. Here in North America, we need experience in international ministry to help churches effectively reach across cultural barriers and forge partnerships within new communities of faith. In other nations, we need expertise in church planting and campus ministry to help people in every nation discover God’s plan for their church, community, and life. With your prayers and financial support, as a single agency we will be able to equip all our churches for ministry and join together with what God is already doing around the world.
P.M. – Calvin College is a liberal arts college in the Reformed tradition. Founded in 1876, Calvin College is one of the largest Christian colleges in North America with over 4,000 students and over 70 academic programs. Every dollar Calvin College receives from ministry shares is used to aid Canadian Christian Reformed students through denominational and exchange grants.
