What would our persecuted brothers and sisters want us to know?
Romans 5

The Gospel according to Romans
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

So far so good...
and  so good for so far
 2 ... And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.

Wait! What?
3 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings,

"It builds character"
  because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope.

Functional Active Hope
5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit,

Seeing ourselves in the story
6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.

What did that demonstrate?
8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Pray for the Persecuted:
that they may be faithful, first and foremost
