March 2022 - Doorways into our Community #2
Every even year in March the Deacons help to promote our local organizations through our Doorways into the Community event, and in odd years, we focus on Doorways into the World. This year, we have the opportunity to highlight local organizations.
Typically, we would invite the organizations to come out and set up a table in our gym so that we can meet them in person and hear “live” the wonderful ways their organizations support our community, both at home and in a broader sense. As congregating after the service isn’t quite an option, we are hosting a virtual Doorways event this year. Our first half of organizations were promoted in our March 6, 2022 Deacons Corner post. Here are the remaining submissions received from our community partners.

Christian Horizons believes that God creates all people in His image and all people are intrinsically valued by God. Because of this belief, we are committed to building communities of belonging in which every person is equally valued and respected, and has the opportunity to contribute gifts to strengthening the community. In fact, Christian Horizons believes that a community is not whole unless every person has a place to fully belong.
Our services in the Niagara area include Host Family or Lifeshare Services, Supported Independent Living, residential supports, as well as other community services.

Refugee Family Update
We praise God for the safe arrival of the Tooe Family on March 16, 2022. After a very long few days of travel, the family has settled into their home in Hamilton. We are very excited to be a part of this family’s journey, and to have the opportunity to help them start this next chapter of their lives in Canada.
We look forward to officially introducing them to our Mountainview family during our service on April 3, 2022.
Grimsby Benevolent Fund was already highlighted at the start of March. However, we’d like you to know about their Volunteer Recruitment Day this Sunday, March 27th from 10am-12pm GBF at their Wellness HUB at 19 Elm Street.
